ANTHONY CAREY

Although inspired by the revolution in modern art at the turn of the 20th century and by the great painters who instigated it, Anthony’s work can truly be called unique. He is a very passionate painter who believes that painting should reflect the soul of the artist and it is this passion that spills over on to his canvasses. His slightly naive style, his use of bold colour and interesting composition, make his paintings readily identifiable. His work acknowledges the past, but reflects the contemporary need to find peace and solitude in a hectic and demanding world.

Born in Selsley, Gloucestershire in 1960, Anthony moved to the Westcountry whilst still at school and eventually decided to make Teignmouth in Devon his family home. Moving to Teignmouth was the inspirational spur that set him on course for a career change, for it was here that he started painting in earnest. Having been a professional musician and freelance sound engineer for most of his working life, Anthony took the logical step of establishing a high quality recording studio. This proved so successful that a move to large premises gave Anthony the opportunity to display his paintings in ‘public’. The astoundingly positive reaction to Anthony’s unique style of art and the resulting sales to studio clientele was such that, before long, Anthony was sufficiently enthused to sell the recording business and to concentrate on painting full time.

Anthony’s success lead to a management deal with 21st Century Studios Ltd. who firmly believe that Anthony Carey will soon become a ‘name’ artist and, furthermore, are proud to house a permanent exhibition of Anthony Carey originals at a prestigious gallery in Dorchester, Dorset. Anthony’s work is now in high demand by both private collectors and corporate clients, throughout Europe and beyond, who appreciate the boldness and honesty of his work.
